After The Harvest: A Farm Gathering

The Third Place and Ummah Enterprises has partnered to explore opportunities to create a whole health community space for in Turner, Maine. The farm at Ummah Enterprises has quickly become a gathering spot for those seeking to reconnect with the land, local food sources, and community. Dawud Ummah, owner of Ummah Enterprises has offered his farm as a rural “third place” to cultivate community connections and healing with food at its core.

This gathering is an intentional effort to build a routine of centering whole health dialogue and discussion in Black community life here in Maine. The goal is to discover how the farm can be activated as a permanent resource for community-building.

We will hear from community members about their ideas for use of the land and its buildings in addition to plans that are already underway. This discussion will be followed by a meal and opportunity to network with others from the community.

You should attend this event if you are Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color AND have an interest in cultivating spaces that reconnect Black people to land-based health, healing, and economic opportunities. You should also join if you just wish to be in community with others.

Participation
Please note that this gathering is intended for individuals from the BIPOC community. We welcome anyone outside of the BIPOC community who are registered and invited guests of someone from the community. We will have other opportunities that are open to our allies at-large. We appreciate your understanding of our need to center Black and Brown voices and experiences at this gathering.
