COMPASS, Maine’s Black Professional Networking group, will hold the first meetup of spring online via Zoom. Start the week off right with our Monthly Meetup Mondays.

Our April meetup will bring together individuals from BIPOC networking groups from across the state for an evening of fun mixers, music, and conversation. Our goal is to provide you with an opportunity to meet others in your field and across job sectors in a casual and welcoming social format.

We will begin the evening with an Afro Beats set courtesy of DJ Bernarzo (@djbernarzo) provide a brief overview of The Third Place and our networking priorities. Following introductions as a whole group, we will break into smaller conversations for more intentional introductions and a group mixer to spark discussion. As we move back into our whole group, Alejandro Graciano (@alejandro_graciano_music) will provide a musical interlude ripe with Afro-Mexican beats - fusing Rock, Blues, Latin and African Blues influences.

Altogether, we will discuss opportunities and strategies for strengthening social and professional connections across our various Black cultural communities. The evening will conclude with reflections on the evening and a musical send-off by DJ Bernarzo.

Who Should Attend:

When we refer to Black professionals, we are referring to anyone having African ancestry and who self-identifies as being Black/African. While we intentionally prioritize the needs of Black professionals, all individuals who identify as BIPOC are welcome to attend. We recognize that our needs and challenges are shared and welcome you as part of our larger effort to build community, voice, and power.

These meetups are for anyone who earns their living from performing an activity that requires a certain level of education, skill, or training. You!
