Get to know other k-12 educators in your district and across Maine. At this month’s online meetup, we will discuss best practices for achieving success in organizing and advocating for the needs BIPOC educators. We will be joined Julia Hazel, Director of BIPOC Career Pathways & Leadership Development, Portland Public Schools and Ayesha Hall, Social Emotional Learning & Equity Resource Coordinator, Lewiston Public Schools.
Hazel and Hall have both been strong advocates for educators of color in their districts. Each will share their experience organizing educators in their school system and across the state. They will provide key insights on the status of BIPOC educators in the two largest school systems in Maine.
This meetup is for k-12 educators, administrators and aspiring educators in Maine who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. College students and those exploring a career change to education are welcome.
