Soma Cooperative is a BIPOC-centered craft collective and workspace in Southern Maine. We aim to support a diverse makeup of craftspeople through the sharing of physical, emotional, and educational resources and through a commitment to identifying and dismantling racism and hetero-patriarchy within the craft industry.
Soma recognizes that crafting and engaging in manual labor connects us on a deep and vital level to the objects we use, from tools to shelter, and aims to create a space where these forms of work can be sustainable for both our bodies and minds.
SOMA is currently in the planning process. We’re partnering with organizations and individuals to help support and contribute to our vision. Possible studio offerings include: blacksmithing, carpentry, fiber arts, ceramics, herbalism, gardening, culinary arts.
